چکیده

The carbon ion-beam has emerged as a novel physical mutagen for creating genetic variability and crop improvement. In this study, seeds of high-yielding pyramided rice line MR219-PL-5 were exposed to ion beam irradiation at 10, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 Gy. radiosensitivity test was conducted determine the optimum dose based on lethal 50% (LD50) using Sandwich Blotter Technique. biological responses carbon-ion also observed in other characteristics such germination rate (GeR), survival (SR), growth (GRoR), shoot length (SL), root (RL), seedling height (SH), days flowering (DTF), fertility (FR) thousand-grains weight (TGW). Based polynomial curve SR graph, value 86.12 However, range between 40 60 Gy these two doses recorded highest SR, 63 67%, respectively. Furthermore, shoulder study since decreased significantly higher doses. M1 individuals irradiated had best where significant differences found SL, RL, GRoR, SH, DTF FR compared Further studies M2 M3 populations could help identify potential well understand inheritance each trait interest from one generation next.

Radiosensitivity and Induction of Apoptosis by High LET Carbon Ion Beam and Low LET Gamma Radiation: A Comparative Study

Cancer treatment with high LET heavy ion beam, especially, carbon ion beam ((12)C), is becoming very popular over conventional radiotherapy like low LET gamma or X-ray. Combination of Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor with xenotoxic drugs or conventional radiation (gamma or X-ray) is the newer approach for cancer therapy. The aim of our study was to compare the radiosensitivity and i...

Impact of Various Beam Parameters on Lateral Scattering in Proton and Carbon-ion Therapy

Background: In radiation therapy with ion beams, lateral distributions of absorbed dose in the tissue are important. Heavy ion therapy, such as carbon-ion therapy, is a novel technique of high-precision external radiotherapy which has advantages over proton therapy in terms of dose locality and biological effectiveness. Methods: In this study, we used Monte Carlo method-based Geant4 toolkit to s...
